What is PFOA?

PFOA is an acronym for perfluorooctanoic acid, a synthetic (man-made) chemical. Some studies indicate that PFOA can cause developmental and other adverse effects in laboratory animals. PFOA also appears to remain in the human body for a long time. PFOA has been detected in industrial waste, stain-resistant carpets, carpet cleaning liquids, house dust, microwave popcorn bags, water, food, and some cookware.

PFOA In Cookware.

All non-stick cookware is PFOA free but keep in mind that all non-stick cookware cannot be cooked over high heat. Non stick cookware is designed to througly cook food over medium heat setting since it has a conductive base covering that elimates hot spots. Cooking non stick cookware over high heat slowly breaks down the non stick coating and releases the chemicals in the food or in the air.

Flavorstone Cookware: The Lastest in Non Stick Cookware Technology.

All FlavorStone cookware features the proprietary Sapphire™ non-stick cooking surface. Sapphire™ non-stick is an especially scratch resistant PFOA-free surface that prevents virtually anything from sticking. Egg whites, cheese, chocolate, bacon, and even melted plastic does not stick to it. Best of all, no foods sticking means clean up is a breeze. That’s why Cathy Mitchell coined the phrase, “If it takes longer to clean up that it did to cook you’re using the wrong kind of pan!”

No Hot Spots + Save Energy

FlavorStone cookware can be used on gas, electric, ceramic because each pan results from a super efficient multi-ply construction process. Heat conducts through the base and instantly radiates throughout the entire pan. This helps eliminate hot spots so your food cooks evenly without flash burning. In fact, FlavorStone performance is so effective you only need a medium setting or lower saving you energy.

FlavorStone cookware’s Sapphire™ non-stick surface is highly durable. If the cookware’s care instructions are carefully followed, the Sapphire™ surface will withstand abrasion. FlavorStone cookware’s Sapphire® non-stick surface is also stain free. However, over time, certain foods like tomato sauce might leave some stains. Most discoloration is merely dark carbonized food particles. These traces, while rare, will not compromise the pan’s function or non-stick properties. In fact, most non-stick pan coatings are usually a dark color or black, so the discoloration is present, but not visible. To remove discoloration, wash the pan in hot water with mild detergent while rubbing it delicately with a non-scratch scrub sponge. More resistant stains can be cleaned by heating equal parts of white vinegar and water in the pan. Please note that the discoloration is intensified if the cookware is used on higher than recommended temperatures.
